Cuttack Netaji Bus Terminal (CNBT) at Khannagar here will probably be of international standard, mentioned Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik after laying foundation stone of the undertaking on the event of Subhas Chandra Bose’s 125th birth anniversary today.
Patnaik laid the foundation stone after coming back from Janakinath Bhawan, the birthplace of the freedom fighter at Odia Bazar here. He paid floral tribute to the freedom fighter and unfurled the National Flag there on the occasion.
The proposed bus terminal will probably be developed on 12 acre land belonging to Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) at a cost of Rs 65 crore. The terminal will have motifs and paintings on Netaji’s life and his sacrifice for the nation. The terminal could have a three storeyed terminal building, regular bus bays to accommodate 180 buses at a time, space for local and Mo Bus service, bus repair workshop and special parking lot for four wheelers and three-wheelers.
The terminal could have all facilities like ticket counters, rest room, cloak room, food court and e-vehicle charging station, rooftop rain water harvesting and solar panels. It will even have an integrated information management system for the benefit of passengers.
The thought behind establishing a new bus terminal was to accommodate increasing number of buses and ensure modern amenities for passengers as the prevailing one in Badambadi area remains crowded all the time.
