Odisha is quickly rising as a popular destination for international students, attracting an increasing number of foreign students to its universities and professional institutes.
According to a recent NITI Aayog report on the internationalization of higher education in India, the state received 2,320 overseas students during the 2021-22 academic year.
These students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs at various institutions, demonstrating Odisha’s growing importance in the national higher education landscape.
According to the report, Odisha’s proactive state-level policies and investment in institutional development have played a significant role in attracting international students, despite weaker inflows to traditional academic hubs such as Kolkata and Hyderabad.
Berhampur University, Gandhi Engineering College, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, National Law University Odisha, Prananath College, Science College Autonomous Hinjilicut, Shailabala Women’s Autonomous College, Utkal University, and XIM University are among the top universities and colleges in Odisha that are taking part in the survey.
