With the new year approaching, the Odisha government announced a 4% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees today. According to the official notification from the Chief Minister’s office, the hike will take effect retroactively on July 1, 2022. It is now 38%, according to the most recent revision.
This is the second DA increase this year. In September, ahead of the Durga Puja celebrations, the Odisha government announced a 3% increase in DA for state government employees and pensioners, raising the allowance to 34% from 31% previously. The decision was made after taking into account the overall financial resources and fiscal target set by Odisha Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act, 2005, will come into effect from January 1 next year.
