Thunderstorms and lightning are expected in many districts of Odisha on Sunday, according to the India Meteorological Department’s regional center here.
A thunderstorm with lightning is extremely likely to occur in Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Kendrapara districts, according to the odisha weather prediction. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for these locations.
Furthermore, mild to moderate rain or thundershower is extremely likely in various areas of north interior Odisha, including Sonepur, Bolangir, and Boudh, as well as in a few other districts.
Heavy rain is expected in 12 Odisha districts during the next four days, according to projections.
According to IMD, monsoon rains in Odisha are expected to strengthen from August 15. A yellow warning has been issued for ten districts due to severe to extremely heavy rain on August 15.
Odisha has received 653 mm of rain so far this monsoon season, which is 6% less than the projected 698.4 mm.
