The heatwave that is prevailing over Odisha is still going strong, as evidenced by the temperature reaching 32°C in at least four locations as early as 8.30 am on Tuesday.

The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional center in the nation’s capital states that Balasore, with a temperature of 34.4°C this morning, was the hottest spot in Odisha. By contrast, Bhubaneswar and Chandabali recorded 32.6°C at 8:30 am, coming in second and third respectively. At Puri, the highest recorded temperature was 32.4°C.

IMD Issues Orange Warning For Thunderstorms And Gusty Winds Across Odisha

Keonjhar (31.2°C), Jharsuguda (31.4°C), Gopalpur (31.4°C), Hirakud (31°C), Paradip (30.8°C), Sambalpur (30.4°C), and Rourkela (30°C) are among the other locations that registered high temperatures exceeding 30°C on Tuesday morning.

The IMD has issued a yellow warning for a heatwave in 20 districts of Odisha, stating that the heatwave will persist for the next four days and be unpleasant. It has recommended people not to leave their homes between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. unless absolutely necessary, especially the elderly, young children, and expectant mothers.

The maximum temperature is expected to rise by 4°C to 5°C during the following four days, according to the IMD prediction. On April 17, it released heatwave advisories for the following areas: Malkangiri, Koraput, Kandhamal, Kendrapada, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Angul, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Boudh, and Khurda.
