Stock Market Highlights on Monday, Sept 7, 2026: The benchmark indices plummeted as IT, metal, PSU bank, and media shares fell dramatically amid rising geopolitical tensions, oil price volatility, and concerns about monetary tightening.
The Sensex slid 382.62 points, or 0.5 percent, to 76,132.81, while the Nifty50 dropped 118.55 points, or 0.5 percent, to 23,779.15.
The top losers in the Nifty50 index were Infosys, SBI Life Insurance Company, and HDFC Life Insurance Company.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap dipped 0.46 percent and the Nifty SmallCap increased 0.02 percent.
Sector-wise, Nifty IT, Nifty Metal, Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Realty, and Nifty Media underperformed, while Nifty Pharma and Nifty Healthcare did well.
