Stock Market Highlights on Thursday, Sept 3, 2026: The benchmark indices gave up their gains and settled lower as traders weighed the implications of rising oil prices and bond rate movements on inflation and potential central bank intervention.
The Sensex sank 417.49 points, or 0.55 percent, to 76,152.86, while the Nifty50 dropped 41 points, or 0.17 percent, to 23,873.45.
The leading losers in the Nifty50 index were Bajaj Auto, Tech Mahindra, and Trent.
In the broader markets, Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap closed 0.37 percent and 1.2% higher, respectively.
Nifty Realty beat the sector, rising by more than 2%. Nifty Media, Nifty Private Bank, Nifty PSU Bank, and Nifty Bank all outperformed.
