Stock Market Highlights on Tuesday, Aug 18, 2026: The benchmark indexes Sensex and Nifty 50 fell on Tuesday, as high crude oil prices and growing tensions in West Asia weighed heavily on investor sentiment.
The 30-share BSE Sensex slid 492.70 points, or 0.63 percent, to 77,235.46, marking the third consecutive session of losses. On the other side, the Nifty 50 index fell for the sixth consecutive session. The index dropped 132.75 points, or 0.55 percent, to 24,154.90.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, Asian Paints, Wipro, HCL Tech, and Infosys were the Nifty pack’s worst losses, each down more than 2%.
On the sectoral front, Nifty Healthcare and Nifty Auto outperformed, while Nifty IT and Nifty Realty had severe drops. In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap 100 lost 0.43 percent while the Nifty SmallCap remained steady.
