Share Market Close: Sensex falls for 2nd day, ends 238 pts lower, Nifty ends at 24,188; IT, PSU bank drag

Stock Market Highlights on Tuesday, July 21, 2026: The Nifty50 and Sensex extended their losses into the second session, as IT and PSU bank shares fell amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

The Sensex fell 238.41 points, or 0.31 percent, to 77,470.11-238.41, while the Nifty50 dropped 51 points, or 0.21 percent, to 24,187.70.

The biggest losers in the Nifty50 index were HDFC Bank, Infosys, and State Bank of India.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap closed 0.3% and 0.53 percent higher, respectively.

Sector-wise, the Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty IT fell the highest. Meanwhile, the Nifty Chemical and Nifty Cement indexes increased the most.
