Share Market Close: Sensex falls for 3rd day, down 813 pts; Nifty at 23,432 as oil tops $100/bbl

Stock Market Highlights on Wednesday, Sept 9, 2026: The main indices fell for the third straight day as Brent crude surpassed $100 per barrel amid rising US-Iran tensions.

The Sensex slid 813.35 points, or 1.08 percent, to 74,764.23, while the Nifty50 dropped 203.60 points, or 0.86 percent, to 23,431.50.

The top three losers in the Nifty50 index were Infosys, HCL Technologies, and Tech Mahindra.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap fell 0.51% and 0.48%, respectively.

The Nifty IT fell the most, closing more than 3% down. Nifty Realty also underperformed. Meanwhile, the Nifty Metal has outperformed.
