Stock Market Highlights on Thursday, Aug 6, 2026: The benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50 advanced on Thursday, mirroring a drop in oil prices on hopes for a resolution to the West Asia crisis. Furthermore, a strong buy in index heavyweight Reliance Industries boosted overall market optimism.
The Sensex gained 374 points, or 0.48 percent, to conclude at 78,954.76, while the Nifty index closed practically steady at 24,636, up 11.35 points, or 0.05 percent.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap dipped 0.44 percent and the Nifty SmallCap increased 0.48 percent.
Sector-wise, the Nifty PSU Bank and the Nifty Chemical outperformed, while the Nifty Realty, Media, and Auto underperformed.
