When people need more protein, they often turn to eggs. Breakfast enthusiasts swear by them, gym rats rely on them for muscle repair, and many people striving to better their diet incorporate eggs for instant nourishment.

Amidst all of the hype about protein, one issue that frequently arises is how many eggs should one safely consume in a day to reap the full advantages. Nutrition experts and recent studies have put some light on this subject.

Why eggs are considered a powerful protein source

Protein promotes tissue growth and repair, as well as muscle support and metabolism. Eggs have been referred to as a complete protein since they contain all nine essential amino acids in the proper quantity. Egg protein has been tested to have an amino acid score of 100, with very high net protein consumption, substantially higher than whey. All of these benefits make eggs an excellent choice for increasing muscle mass, maintaining strength, and promoting general metabolic health.

What research says about egg intake

Various studies tend to have different perspectives on this problem. The EAT-Lancet diet suggests eating about 13 grams of egg each day, which is equivalent to 1.5 eggs each week. However, more recent research suggests otherwise. A large study of over 19,000 adults found that those who ate about 1.5 eggs per day had much stronger bones. A boiled or poached egg has around 5.5 grams of protein. Eggs are high in minerals, healthy fats, and antioxidants, which not only promote eye health but also reduce oxidative stress.

So, how many eggs can you safely eat daily?

According to medical experts like Dr. Shubham Vatsya, eating two to three eggs a day is safe for the vast majority of healthy persons. Three large eggs contain roughly 18 grams of complete protein, which aids in muscle regeneration, metabolism, and even liver function due to the choline in the yolk.

Eat eggs boiled, poached, or scrambled, but make sure they’re part of your daily diet. Eggs are likely the cheapest form of protein on the market, and they are both healthy and tasty.
