Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will shortly open an office in the United Arab Emirates. During a three-day visit to Abu Dhabi, Pradhan made this announcement.
He also met with Minister of State HE Sara Musallam and stated on the social media site X that the IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi campus will be a model of friendship. He went on a tour of Zayed University’s temporary campus.
The IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi campus will start classes in January 2024.
“More universities can come in the near future. More than 100 schools of CBSE, India’s prominent national education board, are functional in UAE…. We are soon going to open a CBSE office here,” Pradhan said.

Pradhan met with Education Minister Ahmad Al Falasi and signed an MoU to improve existing cooperation in educational institutions in both nations by facilitating student and teacher mobility, joint research programs, course design, and other activities.
“The MoU is expected to facilitate regulations, legal structures and best practices in general and higher education in both countries, framework and policies in general and higher education including national qualifications frameworks in order to facilitate mutual recognition of qualifications between both the countries, and academic collaboration between higher education institutions in both the countries for offering twinning, joint degree and dual degree programmes, among others,” it added.
