In an effort to ensure that cultural programs run smoothly during the upcoming Bali Yatra 2025, the Cuttack district government has loosened loudspeaker scheduling restrictions, allowing them to be used until 11 p.m. throughout the historic event.
Cuttack District Collector and Magistrate Dattatreya Bhausaheb Shinde issued the order in accordance with Article 5(3) of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, taking into account public interest and the festive environment. The relaxation would apply to the ‘Ganakabi Baishnab Pani Manch’ and ‘Akshaya Mohanty Manch’, two major cultural stages with performances set from November 5 to 13.
This year’s Bali Yatra will feature a colorful lineup of cultural activities and performances by renowned performers at the Ganakabi Baishnab Pani Manch, Akshaya Mohanty Manch, and Cuttack In Cuttack Manch, all of which will celebrate Odisha’s rich maritime heritage and cultural vibrancy.
Simultaneously, the district administration has implemented a rigorous prohibition on single-use plastics across the Bali Yatra grounds to promote environmental sustainability and ensure a cleaner, greener celebration.
Authorities predict a record attendance of around 50 lakh visitors at this year’s event, which will take place on both the Upper and Lower Bali Yatra grounds.
Bali Yatra, Odisha’s largest trade fair, takes place on the auspicious festival of Kartik Purnima, which commemorates ancient maritime expeditions by Odia traders to Southeast Asian countries. Every year, lakhs of people attend the festival, which includes a combination of shopping, entertainment, and cultural displays exhibiting traditional handicrafts, wooden artifacts, and locally created goods.
