In a big boost to AYUSH healthcare services in Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved a large increase in the salaries of contractual AYUSH doctors working under the National Health Mission (NHM). The decision aims to acknowledge their contributions to the state’s healthcare system and encourage them to continue providing high-quality treatment.
According to the updated pay structure, contractual AYUSH doctors’ earnings have been increased based on their years of employment. Doctors with less than five years of experience will now be paid a minimum monthly pay of Rs 56,948, a raise of Rs 20,000. Those with five to 10 years of experience will receive Rs 74,467 per month, up Rs 25,000.
Similarly, AYUSH doctors with 10 to 15 years of service would have their monthly compensation raise by Rs 30,000 to Rs 80,467, while those with 15 years or more will receive a Rs 40,000 boost, bringing their monthly salary to Rs 91,467.
Currently, around 2,912 AYUSH doctors are employed throughout the state. The revamped salary structure is likely to increase the state government’s annual expenditure by around Rs 1 crore.
Chief Minister Majhi expressed optimism that the move will strengthen AYUSH healthcare delivery and improve medical services at the grassroots level throughout Odisha.
