Stock Market Highlights on Tuesday, Aug 4, 2026: The Nifty50 and Sensex ended a four-day winning streak as bank, financial, and IT equities fell.
Investors also remained cautious during the session as they awaited the outcome of the Reserve Bank of India’s policy meeting, which is scheduled for release on Wednesday.
The Sensex slid 210.08 points, or 0.27 percent, to 78,428.95, while the Nifty50 dropped 159.40 points, or 0.64 percent, to 24,614.90.
The top losers in the Nifty50 index included Grasim Industries, HDFC Life Insurance Company, and Hindustan Unilever.
In the broader market, the Nifty MidCap dipped 0.29 percent, while the Nifty SmallCap increased 0.23 percent.
The Nifty Realty fell more than 2%, becoming the worst-hit among peers. The Nifty FMCG, Nifty Private Bank, and Nifty Bank all underperformed.
