Share Market Close: Sensex rises 315 pts, Nifty ends at 23,140; realty, auto shares shine

Stock Market Highlights on Friday, Sept 25, 2026: The benchmark indices closed higher as oil prices fell amid hopes for a US-Iran agreement, even with ongoing assaults in West Asia.

The Sensex increased by 315.20 points or 0.43 percent to reach 73,895.74, while the Nifty50 gained 77.40 points or 0.34 percent to stand at 23,140.50.

The Nifty closed lower for the seventh consecutive week, decreasing 5.8 percent or 1,430 points during the timeframe — marking its longest weekly decline since the Covid drop in February-March 2020.
Axis Bank, Asian Paints, and Mahindra & Mahindra emerged as the leading gainers in the Nifty50.

In the wider markets, the Nifty MidCap 100 declined by 0.14 percent, whereas the Nifty SmallCap increased by 0.14 percent.

By sector, the Nifty Realty and Nifty Auto experienced the largest increases, whereas the Nifty IT and Nifty Pharma saw the steepestdeclines.
