Stock Market Highlights on Thursday, Aug 13, 2026: The benchmark Sensex broke a two-day losing skid, but the Nifty50 extended its losses for a third day as metal and bank stocks weighed.
The Sensex advanced 113.61 points, or 0.15 percent, to 78,079.96, while the Nifty50 fell 40.10 points, or 0.16 percent, to 24,395.85.
The Nifty50 index’s top losers included Hindalco Industries, UltraTech Cement, and Grasim Industries.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap closed 0.15 percent and 0.27 percent higher, respectively.
Sector-wise, the Nifty Metal declined more than 1% to become the poorest performance, while the Nifty Chemical increased the highest.
