Stock Market Highlights on Friday, Oct 9, 2026: The benchmark indices recovered from a two-day losing run on broad-based purchasing, as IT shares rose and oil prices fell.
The Sensex jumped 879.09 points, or 1.23 percent, to 72,472.33, while the Nifty50 gained 288.65 points, or 1.3%, to 22,520.45.
The Nifty50 index’s biggest gainers included Apollo Hospitals Enterprise, ITC, and Eicher Motors.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap increased by 1.56% and 0.54%, respectively.
Sectorally, the Nifty IT index outperformed its peers, while the Nifty Oil and Gas index was the worst-hit.
