The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has announced admissions to its Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs for the January 2026 academic year. The School of Management Studies (SOMS) offers the curricula through Open and Distance Learning (ODL). The Open University stated that the MBA courses are designed to suit current industry requirements while maintaining academic rigour and flexibility for learners.
To be considered for admission, candidates must have earned a Bachelor’s degree for at least three years. General category candidates must have earned at least 50% in their qualifying degree. For candidates from reserved categories, the minimum needed score is 45 percent.
IGNOU has advised interested and qualified individuals to apply within the deadlines for the January 2026 session. The official IGNOU website (ignou.ac.in/schools/programme/MBA) provides detailed information about the MBA program, including entrance guidelines and program structure.
The MBA program offered by IGNOU is an AICTE-approved postgraduate degree. The institution noted that the degree is in line with the changing needs of the business and management sectors. According to IGNOU, the curriculum focuses on both academic knowledge and practical comprehension of management ideas, and the programme is appropriate for both new graduates and working professionals wishing to improve their abilities and career prospects.
According to IGNOU, the MBA curriculum encompasses a wide range of managerial functions. These include finance, marketing, human resources, operations, and supply chain management. The program also incorporates current industry practices to ensure that students are exposed to real-world business situations. The study material has been updated to reflect changes in the business environment and management practices.
One of the most notable aspects of the IGNOU MBA program is its adaptable learning style. It is offered in the Open and Distance Learning method, allowing students to study at their own speed. This makes it ideal for working people, entrepreneurs, and students who are unable to attend traditional classroom-based courses. The institution also underlined that the programme’s fee structure is reasonable, making management education accessible to a broader range of students.
The MBA degree is available throughout India via IGNOU’s network of regional and study centres. Furthermore, the programme is available in a limited number of other nations. For chosen courses, the MBA program offers instruction in English, Hindi, and Odia.
The MBA programme lasts two years. It is offered as a full-fledged degree programme by the School of Management Studies. IGNOU offers a variety of specialisations within the MBA umbrella. MBA programs include Business Administration, Agribusiness Management, Construction Management, Financial Management, Health Care and Hospital Management, Human Resource Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Marketing Management, and Operations Management.
