The National Testing Agency (NTA) has permitted applicants taking the re-examination of NEET UG 2026 to change their selected examination city if they have moved from their current location. Candidates have until May 21 to modify their preferred city for NEET UG re-exam. Candidates can specify their first and second desired exam cities. Students who do not choose this option will be able to retake the exam in their current city, according to the NTA. The official website for NEET UG is neet.nta.nic.in.
In the most recent notice, issued on May 15, the NTA stated that candidates who want to change their city preference owing to a change in domicile can do so by visiting the official website. “Those candidates who need to change their preferred city of examination on account of change in their present address may do so by visiting NTA Official Website,” the notice stated.
The agency had previously announced that the NEET UG 2026 re-examination would be held on June 21 from 2 pm to 5.15 pm, including time for examination procedures, following the cancellation of the last exam due to claims of irregularities and paper leak. The exam will be administered using pen and paper. In the May 3 NEET UG exam, 22,05,035 applicants appeared out of 22,75,011 who enrolled, for an overall attendance rate of 96.92 percent across 37 states and Union Territories. NTA had said that no additional fee will be paid to students taking the NEET UG 2026 re-examination.
There will be no price charged to the candidate for changing the desired city of exam. The NTA has also said that no changes to personal information will be permitted, with the exception of current address and city of residence. The city’s notification slips and admit cards will be distributed subsequently.
Candidates are recommended to rely solely on official NTA communication for exam updates, admission cards, and city intimation slips. The new city preference facility is meant to assist students who have migrated following the cancelation of the initial examination.
The NTA has also requested that applicants visit the official NEET and NTA websites on a regular basis to stay up to date on re-exam announcements.
