NEET Exam 2026 Updates: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the NEET UG re-exam on Sunday, June 21. The exam was first administered on May 3, 2026. However, due to an alleged paper leak, the exam was canceled. Candidates who registered for the medical entrance test may take the NEET UG re-exam.
Candidates should arrive at the NEET UG examination center before the gate closes, since entry to the exam will not be permitted after that time under any circumstances. They should also bring an admit card, a passport-sized photograph, and a photo ID (Aahaar, voter ID, PAN, passport, driving license) to the exam center. Visit the IE Education Portal to learn more about the exam and its analysis.
The NTA has also increased the duration of the exam from 180 minutes (3 hours) to 195 minutes (3 hours 15 minutes). In addition, the space for rough work in the question booklet has increased. Candidates will now receive four pages instead of two, as previously supplied. To improve convenience, particularly for left-handed candidates, the arrangement has been altered: two rough-work pages will be put immediately after the instruction page at the beginning of the booklet, with the remaining two available at the conclusion.
NTA has clarified that candidates whose biometric verification fails will still be allowed to proceed with the verification process by submitting a written undertaking at the examination centre. The format for this undertaking will be available with the Centre Superintendent at the venue.
If biometric verification fails, candidates should follow these steps:
– Inform the examination officials immediately.
– Obtain the prescribed undertaking format from the Centre Superintendent.
– Fill in and submit the undertaking with the required details.
– Cooperate with any additional verification process directed by the centre authorities.
– Retain any acknowledgement or instructions provided by officials for post-exam verification, if required.
A nationwide mock drill was underway across the country on Saturday ahead of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination as part of the efforts to ensure smooth, secure and transparent conduct of the medical entrance test, officials said.
Security has also been tightened at the National Testing Agency (NTA) office in the national capital.More than 22.79 lakh medical aspirants will appear for the re-examination on Sunday, nearly seven weeks after the original test was cancelled following allegations of a paper leak that triggered nationwide outrage, political sparring and legal challenges.
