Bhubaneswar: With resurgence of COVID cases throughout Odisha, seven employees of the State Bank of India (SBI) tested positive for the deadly virus in Bhubaneswar.
Following fresh detection of COVID cases from the bank, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today sealed the main branch of State Bank of India situated at Unit-1 locality in the city for next two days to carry out disinfection work.
“The SBI main branch has been sealed for next 48 hours from April 4 to April 6 after its seven staff had been found positive for COVID-19,” informed BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhury today.
The BMC will conduct sanitisation, contact tracing and testing at the bank throughout these two days, he added.
As per the order issued by the BMC, the premises of State Bank of India, Main Branch, Bhubaneswar (Ground Floor & First Floor) shall be sanitized with immediately by the bank authorities in strict adherence to the guidelines issued by the Centre and State Government.
During sealing period, nobody shall be allowed to move into or from outside the bank premises besides authorised personnel of BMC.
The staff who’ve contracted infection have been directed to remain in isolation at their respective residence. If any positive case needs medical attention, the bank authorities are to intimate the same to BMC immediately.
The bank authorities have been asked to intimate the BMC in case of symptoms observed in any staff. In case of emergency, the bank authorities are to contact BMC control room (Mob:7847873040) or 1929 for immediate assistance.
An RT-PCR Test Camp shall be carried out for all Workers of State Bank of India, Main Branch, Unit 1, Bhubaneswar on 06 April 2020 by which all Staff, Housekeeping & Security Personnel shall be tested invariably.
With the rise in daily counts of COVID-19 cases, the BMC has taken the initiative as part of precautionary measure to contain spread of infections.
Recently, the BMC had sealed a shopping mall at Unit-2 Market Building on charges of violation of COVID-19 guidelines.
The Coronavirus has resurged in Bhubaneswar in a past few weeks. Many educational institutions within the city together with IIT Bhubaneswar have reported positive cases in recent days.
