Share Market Close Close Highlights: Sensex falls 70 pts, Nifty ends at 23,985; IT, realty, consumer durables shine

Stock Market Highlights on Tuesday, July 28, 2026: After trading in a tight range throughout the session, the Nifty50 and Sensex fell as PSU Bank, FMCG, and chemical stocks weighed.

The Sensex slid 69.86 points, or 0.09 percent, to 76,765.92, while the Nifty50 dropped 10.60 points, or 0.04 percent, to 23,985.35.

The leading losers in the Nifty50 index were Hindustan Unilever, Bharat Electronics (BEL), and Coal India.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap rose 0.08 percent, while the Nifty SmallCap fell 0.22 percent.

Sectorally, the Nifty FMCG, Nifty PSU Bank, and Nifty Chemical underperformed. The Nifty FMCG reversed a two-day winning streak in Tuesday’s session.

Meanwhile, the Nifty IT index outperformed, gaining more than 3% and extending its winning streak to the third session.
