Stock Market Highlights on Thursday, May 7, 2026: The Nifty50 and Sensex largely essentially flat after trading in a tight range throughout the session.
The Nifty50 closed 4.30 points, or 0.02 percent, lower at 24,326.65, while the Sensex fell 114.00 points, or 0.15 percent, to 77,844.52.
Hindustan Unilever, Tata Consultancy Services, and Titan Company were the biggest losers in the Nifty50 index.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap closed 1.10 percent and 0.87 percent higher, respectively.
Sector-wise, the Nifty Consumer Durable, Nifty IT, and Nifty FMCG underperformed. Meanwhile, the Nifty Auto has outperformed.
Brent crude prices dropped 2.74 percent to $98.50 per barrel as reports indicated that the US and Iran had reached an agreement to end the blockade in exchange for the gradual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
