Stock Market Highlights on Wednesday, April 15, 2026: The Nifty50 and Sensex rose as risk appetite returned following US President Donald Trump’s announcement that the war with Iran is nearing an end.
The Nifty50 finished 1.63 percent higher, or 388.65 points, at 24,231.30, while the Sensex closed 1.64 percent higher, or 1,264 points, at 78,111.24.
The top gainers in the Nifty50 index included InterGlobe Aviation, Eternal, Max Healthcare Institute, and Power Grid Corporation of India.
Broader markets outperformed their benchmark indices. The Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap indices closed 2.20 and 2.35 percent higher, respectively.
The Nifty Construction Durable is the sector’s biggest gainer. The Nifty IT and Nifty Media both did well. The Nifty PSU bank underperformed.
Among thematic indices, the Nifty Capital Markets, Nifty India Tourism, and Nifty India Railways PSU did well. The Nifty Rural and Nifty CPSE underperformed.
Q4 results today
Shares of ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company, Reliance Industrial Infrastructure, Tejas Networks, GTPL Hathway Ltd, and Elecon Engineering Company, among others, will be closely watched as they report Q4FY26 results today.
