Stock Market Highlights on Tuesday, April 7, 2026: The Nifty50 was underpinned by tail-end buying, as the Sensex extended its winning streak to the fourth session.
The Nifty50 closed 0.68 percent higher, or 155.40 points, at 23,123.65, while the Sensex closed 0.69 percent higher, or 507.73 points, at 74,616.58.
The shares of Wipro India, Hindalco Industries, Tata Consultancy Services, and HCLTech rose the most in the Nifty50.
On the domestic front, market investors are waiting for the outcome of the Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee meeting, which is due to be revealed on Wednesday. The central bank is anticipated to maintain the repo rate steady. The commentary will be critical in determining the future direction of the policy.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap ended 0.20 percent higher, while the Nifty SmallCap closed 0.06 percent lower.
Sectorally, the Nifty IT, Nifty Realty, and Nifty Metal excelled. Meanwhile, the Nifty PSU Bank experienced the most significant fall.
