Stock Market Highlights on Monday, April 6, 2026: The Nifty50 and Sensex closed higher for the third day in a row, with news indicating that the US and Iran had received a plan to halt hostilities.
According to published reports, a two-stage agreement was planned. The full ceasefire agreement, which includes a nuclear freeze and sanctions relief, could be reached within 15-120 days. According to news sources, the Islamabad Accord was presented as a settlement in the transaction.
The Nifty50 closed 1.12 percent higher, or 255.15 points, at 22,968.25, while the Sensex closed 1.07 percent higher, or 787.30 points, at 74,106.85.
The biggest gainers in the Nifty50 index were Trent, SBI Life Insurance Company, and Titan Company.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap closed 1.52 percent and 1.29 percent higher, respectively.
The Nifty Construction Durable outperformed its counterparts. The Nifty PSU Bank and the Nifty Bank both outperformed. Meanwhile, the Nifty Oil and Gas index underperformed.
