Share Market Close Highlights: Sensex sinks 1,690 pts, Nifty at 22,820 on uncertainty over US-Iran talks

Stock Market Highlights on Friday, March 27, 2026: The Indian equities benchmark indices snapped a two-day winning streak and finished significantly lower as contradictory signals from the US and Iran about the continuing discussions alarmed investors.

The Nifty50 closed 2.09 percent or 486.85 points lower at 22,819.60, while the Sensex closed 2.25 percent or 1,690.25 points worse at 73,583.22.

Broader markets outperformed the benchmark indices. The Nifty MidCap and SmallCap indices closed 2.24 percent and 1.88 percent lower, respectively.

Sector-wise, the PSU Bank emerged as the biggest loser. The Nifty Realty and Nifty Auto both underperformed.

Meanwhile, the Nifty IT emerged as the best-performing sectors index, with the fewest losses.
