Stock Market Highlights on Tuesday, Sept 8, 2026: The main indices fell for the second straight session, closing at their lowest level since mid-June as oil prices rose amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
The Sensex slid 555.23 points, or 0.73 percent, to 75,577.58, while the Nifty50 dropped 144.05 points, or 0.61 percent, to 23,635.10.
The top losers in the Nifty50 index were SBI Life Insurance Company, ICICI Bank, and Axis Bank.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap increased by 0.21 percent and 0.17 percent, respectively.
Sector-wise, Nifty Private Bank and Nifty Financial Services fell the most, while Nifty Pharma and Nifty Healthcare rose.
