Stock Market Highlights on Monday, Aug 31, 2026: The benchmark indices closed lower as IT, metal, real estate, and media stocks fell amid weak global cues.
The Sensex dropped 307.24 points, or 0.4%, to 76,957.27, while the Nifty50 slid 95.25 points, or 0.39 percent, to 24,080.40.
Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, and Eternal were the biggest losers in the Nifty50 index.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap rose 0.24 percent, while the Nifty SmallCap declined 0.74%.
Sector-wise, the Nifty Media, Nifty Metal, Nifty Realty, and Nifty IT underperformed, whilst the Nifty Auto and Nifty Private Bank did well.
