Stock Market Highlights on Wednesday, Sept 16, 2026: The benchmark indices recovered from a two-day decline as oil prices eased ahead of the US Federal Reserve’s policy meeting conclusion and FMCG, real estate, and PSU Bank shares strengthened.
The Nifty50 finished 99 points, or 0.43 percent, higher at 23,217.60, while the Sensex increased 332.63 points, or 0.45 percent, to 74,336.45.
The Nifty50 index’s biggest gainers were HDFC Life Insurance Company, ITC, and SBI Life Insurance Company.
The Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap dropped 0.01 percent and 0.18 percent, respectively, in the larger markets.
In terms of sectors, Nifty IT and Nifty Pharma saw the biggest declines, while Nifty FMCG, Nifty PSU Bank, and Nifty Realty did better.
