Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi introduced the ‘ShaktiShree’ mobile application and an internship guideline book on Saturday, both of which aim to boost Odisha’s higher education and student assistance systems.
The concepts were introduced during a two-day national workshop attended by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj.
The ‘ShaktiShree’ app is intended to improve the safety and accessibility of female students at higher education institutions throughout the state.
The application’s key features include 24/7 SOS alerts, anonymous reporting mechanisms for harassment, mental health support services, and direct access to institutional Internal Complaints Committees.
Along with the app launch, the Chief Minister unveiled a thorough internship guideline structure aimed at closing the gap between academic learning and real-world experience. The rules promote internships, community engagement, and skill-based education in accordance with the National Education Policy 2020.
Speaking at the event, Suraj described the measures as a “transformative step” in Odisha’s higher education environment. He stated that the measures would provide students, particularly young women, with more confidence, practical experience, and the tools they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive global world.
Officials stated that the combined launch of the app and internship framework illustrates the state government’s commitment to inclusive, safe, and industry-oriented higher education.
